Chi Nei Tsang

Chi Nei Tsang (Internal Organs Energy Transformation) is a holistic approach to health discovered and developed thousands of years ago in the mountains of China, to help the Taoist monks acquire the energy necessary to achieve the highest levels of meditative practices. Adapted for practical use today, this practice mostly revolves around using safe, deep and gentle touch applied directly to the abdomen. The abdomen, or tan tien in Chinese and referred to as the hara in Japanese is the center of our body and the place from which our power, vitality and movement originates.

Our navel is a map of the entire human body and the Chi Nei Tsang practitioner is trained to “read” this map in order to see the story the body is trying to communicate. In our mother’s belly, the navel is where we get our original information and energy, or “Chi” via the umbilical cord. Every single cell is imbibed with our genetic code and the information required to make us whole. Our navel is our first scar, and as a result a major point where toxins and congestion may accumulate. We begin at the navel and work outwards affecting the organs where many undigested emotional charges wait for the appropriate time to digest. By working directly on the internal organs, CNT accesses deep points of the meridian system which activates the “energy superhighway” through the fasciae of the body. Using breath to bring awareness to places in the body, a Chi Nei Tsang treatment allows for an immense amount of detoxification to happen on all levels-physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. CNT and Applied Chi Kung address all systems of the body including but not limited to the visceral, musculo-skeletal, endocrine, reproductive, respiratory, lymphatic, and metabolic, etc.

Applied Chi Kung

Applied Chi Kung refers to the transmitting of life force energy from the practitioner to the student. “Chi” can be translated in various ways, but here I will translate it as energy + information, and “kung” as work or mastery. So we have the application of the mastery of energy work.

Chi Nei Tsang and Applied Chi Kung help reprogram the whole person on a cellular level, actually restructuring our DNA. Applied Chi Kung is truly a holistic approach to health, happiness and longevity.

Optional Modalities:

What is Spino-Mandibular Equilibration®?
Spino-Mandibular Equilibration® is a therapy taught to Gilles Marin by the creator, Joseph P. Milhet, a French Osteopath who used this therapy to help himself recover from a horrible accident that left him paralyzed. Working with the jaw by fashioning a mouthpiece that allowed his jaw to sit in “neutral” position, Milhet eventually fully recovered and began using this therapy in many cases working with body alignment and various emotional issues related therein.

How Does It Work?
The practitioner begins by finding the neutral position of the jaw, and then using a non-toxic dental catalyst and base, fitting the putty into the mouth in it’s most natural and comfortable position.

After the mouthpiece is fitted and secured, the practitioner continues with a normal CNT treatment. The mouthpiece allows the bones in the head, neck, jaw, shoulders, spine, pelvis, legs, and sometimes even the feet to shift into their more natural position. The CNT treatment helps the body integrate the gradual shift taking place.

The client takes the mouthpiece with them and wears it overnight until the alignment of the teeth, bones in the skull, neck and jaw have actually changed to a degree when the mouthpiece no longer fits. It is very important that at this point the mouthpiece is thrown away and never used again. I recommend getting another mouthpiece and treatment about once a month.

Who Gets Spino-Mandibular Equilibration®?
Many of my clients that request SME® are people that experience TMJ and teeth grinding during sleep. Other clients are people suffering from back pain or misalignment of the hips and legs, and a small percentage of people who suffer from re-occurring headaches.

As with any of these techniques, if this treatment sounds appealing to you, then you can probably benefit from it.

What Is Applied Chi Kung on the Spine(ACKS®)?
ACKS® is inspired by a technique I learned from Gilles Marin which he calls, “listening to the spine.” I have been working on this treatment as a treatment in itself for the past few years. I found this method so relaxing and rejuvenating that I felt it deserved it’s own name.

I begin by using a hot herbal ball compress on the spine, relaxing the tissues and bringing warmth and some medicinal herbs to the back. Then by using a very subtle touch, listening and following the movement of the individual vertebrae, allowing a connection to take place.

How Does It Work?
Each vertebrae is connected to the individual internal organs. By relaxing the spinal column, you accomplish several things: access the parasympathetic response, a division of the autonomic nervous system that allows us to sleep, dream, and that organizes the involuntary responses of visceral function in a relaxed state, enhance the communication between the vertebrae so that they work in harmony, and just by bringing awareness to the individual bones in the spine get in touch with the various significant points on the spine that reflect our ability to be comfortable, be grounded, choose our direction in life, reach out to others, and develop our intuition among other things.

Who Gets ACKS®?
Anyone who wants a profoundly relaxing experience, or anyone who does not feel ready to have their belly touched. Also, of course anyone with any back issues, this treatment is incredibly nourishing and relaxing.

I have also found this treatment very helpful for people with insomnia, nightmares, general spaciness and disorientation, scoliosis, painful herniated discs, physical and emotional trauma and much more.

Chi Nei Tsang during pregnancy:

Chi Nei Tsang can help a pregnant mother develop sensitivity to her growing and changing body. Although no deep abdominal techniques are applied, a Chi Nei Tsang session during pregnancy can greatly improve a woman's ability to gracefully grow with her pregnancy through relaxation and breathing techniques. Because Chi Nei Tsang is not just abdominal massage but Internal Organs Energy Cultivation, there are a myriad of safe, gentle and very effective techniques that will help promote emotional well-being, relaxation, expansion of the diaphragm and ribcage while the baby grows, improved elimination and digestion, and relief from many of the symptoms sometimes associated with pregnancy(acid-reflux, headaches, nauseousness). Eréne has been working with pregnant women and post-partum women for a decade and has developed a safe approach to applying the principles of Chi Nei Tsang to promote harmony and relaxation. She has also been certified in Pregnancy Massage by Elaine Stillerman, LMT-author of Mother Massage in 2003. Because every woman is unique, please contact Eréne to see if Chi Nei Tsang during and/or after pregnancy is right for you.
